Outlook Express
6 won't let me open attachments. I receive an error message that says:
OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments
in your mail
When you upgrade your system to Internet Explorer 6 you also upgrade Outlook Express to version 6. By default Microsoft has set the attachment option to not accept unsafe attachments. This was an attempt to further protect your computer against virus attacks. Although this may have been a good idea in principal it is not very practical since most people use e-mail to send pictures and documents to friends, family, and clients on a daily basis. To remedy this problem follow these steps to allow Outlook Express to show attachments.
1) Start Outlook Express 6
2) In the "Tools" menu at the top of your screen click on "Options".
3) Click on the "Security" tab
4) Uncheck the box that says: "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"
5) Click "Apply"BE AWARE THAT BY ALLOWING ANY ATTACHMENT YOU ARE AT A HIGHER RISK OF VIRUS INFECTION.
